Yesterday morning Abigail Davis of the Centre for Research in Social Policy (CRSP) at Loughborough University gave an excellent account of recent research on Minimum Income Standards.

The report on this research will be launched on Monday, and is embargoed until then. I will therefore not discuss any of the findings, only to say that there are huge implications for policy formulation.

I hope that the Lib Dems will be the first party to consider the implications of fascinating and very useful research and  formulate a more effective policy to tackle poverty.

If we are to live up to our strap line of  “A Fairer Society” this has to be an issue for important policy debate and re-formulation. This should be an issue for Manifesto decisions

I will have more to write on this topic on Monday when the embargo is lifted.
