David Walker

David Walker came to Loughborough in 1974 with his wife Claire and two sons Giles and Edward. They lived at first in Outwoods Road and moved to Beacon Road in 2000. David came to work at Loughborough College of Education and his geography department was incorporated into the University in 1977. He was a promoted to Senior Lecturer in Geography in 1980 and was Acting Head of Department 1983-87. He Chaired the Senior Common Room, was Staff representative on Senate and a member of Council and Court. He chaired many university committees (Traffic, Prizes, Ordinances and Regulations, etc). He has also served on the Executive Committee of the Geographical Association, the Institute of British Geographers and the Royal Geographical Society. He has been a visiting Professor in Concordia University Montreal. He has been chair of Loughborough Twinning Association and has Chaired the Polish link with our twin town of Zamosc in Poland.
