Only the Lib Dems stood against the Iraq disaster

by David Walker on 3 November, 2015

We have long suspected that Tony Blair was seduced by the right wing of the American Republican Party who believe that guns and bombs can solve problems.

He has now made the spurious claim that “we” were misled by false information. But his persecution of David Kelly who revealed the fact that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction was a disgrace. Tony Blair was keen to find any evidence that would justify war, and rejected all the evidence war was unjustifiable and a potential disaster.

Yesterday’s revelation that he ordered the destruction of the advice that the war would be illegal further confirms the judgement that he wanted to play war games with George Bush with such disastrous consequences, regardless of sound advice, regardless of any thought of the consequences, regardless of the opposition of the public, and of the Lib Dems.

The Daily Mail is not my favourite paper, but it can campaign effectively, and I strongly encourage you to read this piece in yesterday’s issue:
