One of the joys of living in Loughborough is the wealth of cultural experience that we have on offer. Not only is there a vast amount of activity open to the public in the University (on Thursday night we went to the last of the Centenary Lectures to hear an inspiring presentation by Dame Barbara Stocking, who is the Director of OXFAM) but a mass of activities in the town and surrounds. We are fortunate that activities in Birmingham, Nottingham and Leicester are accessible.
Yesterday evening we enjoyed a concert by the Philharmonia Orchestra in the De Montfort Hall in Leicester. Piotr Anderszewki gave a stunning performance of the Mozart Piano Concerto No 18, and we heard the Leonore No 1 and the Seventh Symphony by Beethoven. Both were received with great acclaim. The Hall, which seats 2,200, was full.
We met seven people from Outwoods Ward and another seven from Nanpantan ward, and lots more from other parts of Charnwood.
